Kidderminster Test Centre

The Local test centre for Kidderminster has been scheduled to close in October.

The DSA have a £2.3 Million budget to replace it and they can't find a suitable property.

I could find a centre with a swimming pool for that!

Thomson Local Are Shit And A Waste Of Money!

Well having paid over £1300 for a quarter page advert in the Thomson Local for this year I can confirm what a waste of money it is!

Do not advertise with them, what ever they are promising you it's a load of shit! Excuse my language but that's how annoyed I am over it! I have had a very good avert so it's not me!

Having the 0845 telephone number in my advert allows me to montiure the number of calls recieved and I can tell you I average 2 telephone enquireis per month. Thats an average cost of over £50 per call!

So fellow driving schools save your money and don't bother!

Changes to the Driving Tests

On the 7th of May 2008. The DSA & Government released the proposed changes to the UK Driving Tests. It is a consultation on both the Theory Test & Practical Test to be introduced gradually from September this year taking 2 to 3 years to implement all of the changes. You can download the consultation and have your say at www.dsa.gov.uk/Category.asp?cat=545.

Most of these changes are because of Male drivers betweet 17 and 25 yearts old killing them selves and oither people. BLAME THEM. GIRLFRIENDS TIME TO START MOANING!

The Changes;

Theory:
The main focus of the current Theory is to test knowlege.
It is proposed that the current Theory Test is split into 2 tests Theory & Hazard.
A Third test is to be added which will be a case study to test your attitude and approach to various road situations because of the young lads metioned above.

Practical:
The main focus of the current Driving Test is Vehicle Control.
Their has is up to 3 addtional driving tests proposed in this consultation. Some of which is a good idea such as;
Split the Manouvers away from the actual test so a short 10 minute test is required for that and when you pass it you you pass it and not tested again unlike at present!

A vehicle control test which is the usual Driving Test

A test based on your attitude & approach to driving

A realistic driving test based on the way you drive after passing eg. the Examiner will request you to drive to a well known landmark by following road signs and your loacl knowlege.

Their will be as an option a Standardised Advanced Driving Test which unlike the present PASS PLUS (where you alot of Driving Instructors get a £50 bung and do nothing other than sign a form. Idiots for doing that!)you be tested and it will dramticlly reduce your insurance costs. This will be available to ALL DRIVERS of ALL AGES.

The DSA & Government belive this will not cost anymore than at present and want to put the focus on education to reduce accident rates, reduce insurance costs and make them look good.

Their are a few other things metioned aswell such as business driver and elderley drivers etc. But as the document is 86 pages of Government English i will you to read it!

Heavy traffic in a city centre such as Birmingham or Wolverhampton

We are comitted to road safety at http://www.homersdrivingschool.co.uk/ so if you take your lessons with us with will offer you Pass Plus for only £100 instead of the usual £150

Manual or Automatic Driving Lessons

The choice is your Manual or Auto? visit http://www.homersdrivingschool.co.uk/ for the choice of either.

This is for you to decide but their are a few pro's and con's;

Automatic Pro's;
It's a lot easier to learn to drive an automatic than a manual.
You will require less driving lessons so it will cost a lot less to get up and running an average of 15 lessons with http://www.homersdrivingschool.co.uk/.
A lot less hastle changing than keep changing up and down gears at every occasion
Automatic Con's
If you learn to drive and pass in a manual car you can legally drive either manual or auto
Better fuel consuption from a manual car if you know what you are doing with your driving.

Manual Pro's:
If you learn to drive and pass in a manual car you can legally drive either manual or auto
Better fuel consuption from a manual car if you know what you are doing
More availablity when you go to buy a car

Manual Con's
You will take more driving lesson and it will cost more to learn an average of 28 lessons with http://www.homersdrivingschool.co.uk/
The clutch control will drive you nuts until it clicks in your head, I hope you like stalling!
The clutch is a pain in the arse if you were sitting in slow moving traffic, up-down-up- down etc
Their is work to do whilst you are actually driving changing up and down gears for hills, speed, islands, traffic lights etc
